Even though everyone knows smoking is detrimental to health, it's still very difficult for patients to quit. Q&A will immediately follow presentation.

About the Speakers
Megan DePumpo:
Megan joined the Lindau Lab in August 2015 as the Research Operations and Projects Manager. Ms. DePumpo’s background and passion is deeply rooted in public health equity having worked in multiple community health settings in Boston, Chicago, Nepal, and China. Prior to her current position, Ms. DePumpo worked at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County and Forefront (formerly, Donors Forum) on various state and federal social policy issues and engagement. She holds a bachelor’s in English and Women’s & Gender Studies from Boston College and a master’s in Social Administration from the University of Chicago. Ms. DePumpo oversees all operations for the Lindau Lab at the University of Chicago; she serves as a liaison between the lab, institutional administrators in grants management, regulatory offices, human resources, IRB, and the Urban Health Initiative. She believes substantial, bold changes come from knowing your voice, a solid infographic, a little determination, and a lot of grit. Her lifelong dream is the be an extra on a Chicago movie set and can often be found walking by the set with her dog hoping to serendipitously run into the casting director.
Anna Poss:
Anna Poss serves as the Clinical Director for Cook County Health and Hospital System’s Healthy Lungs Initiative. Her responsibilities include managing the system’s tobacco cessation services and chronic lung disease health education. Her career has focused on substance use and trauma counseling, utilizing Motivational Interviewing and person-centered modalities to empower people live their healthiest, most authentic lives. Anna is passionate about helping others develop the skills to provide client-centered, empirically based services through clinical supervision and training. When not working, Anna can be found exploring her adopted home of Chicago with a basset hound named Bella.
