September 21, 2017
12:30-1:00p.m. CT
REGISTER NOW

Great Lakes Practice Transformation Network (GLPTN), Healthy Hearts in the Heartland (H3), and Vizient are pleased to welcome Michael McGee, MD, for a webinar on “Implementing an Enhanced Recovery Program for Surgery.”

Dr. McGee, a colorectal surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, will share his experiences carrying out a large-scale quality improvement program that included a strong patient engagement component.  The program reduced wound infections after colorectal surgery by 50% and reduced readmissions by 40%.

Dr. McGee will describe the barriers his team experienced while changing the protocol in a large healthcare system, and will share the strategies they used to overcome challenges. He also will provide examples of how data was used to change culture and garner support. Q&A follows the presentation.

Target Audience:  This webinar is designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Recognize barriers to implementing a large quality improvement (QI) project
  2. Develop strategies to overcome barriers to implementing a large QI project
  3. Detail basic tenets of surgically enhanced recovery protocols
  4. Develop audit and feedback programs to enhance performance of existing QI projects
  5. Apply this information to professional practice
These learning objectives align closely with the TCPI change package; quality improvement programs with patient and family input are included in Drivers 1 and 2.

About the speaker:
Michael F. McGee, MD, FACS, FASCRS

May 4th RHC Technical Assistance call – Emergency Preparedness and Foreign Language Nondiscrimination Rules

To:       RHC Community and friends

From:   Bill Finerfrock

Re:       May 4th RHC Technical Assistance call – Emergency Preparedness and Foreign Language Nondiscrimination Rules

In late 2016, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced finalization of new “Emergency Preparedness” rules for federally certified facilities, including Rural Health Clinics.  Enforcement of these rules was delayed until November, 2017.

ALL RHCs will be subject to these news rules and must be able to demonstrate that they have put an “Emergency Preparedness” plan in place and engaged in a variety of activities as part of these new requirements.

Additionally, as of November of 2016, RHCs are required to take additional steps to ensure nondiscrimination practices are fair for foreign language patients. These new rules will be reviewed to ensure that all RHCs are in compliance.

On May 4th at 2:00pm Eastern, Nathan Baugh, NARHC Director of Government Affairs, will be conducting a webinar outlining these new rules for RHCs. In some instances, CMS has not yet provided all of the guidance necessary to determine specific actions the RHC must take in order to be in compliance.

There is no cost to participate in this webinar and you do not need to sign-up in advance.  The link for the webinar is:  https://hrsaseminar.adobeconnect.com/rhc_tech_assistance/

The call-in number for this session is:
Phone: 1-888-790-3056
Code: 6905570

If you have a question you would like to submit in advance of this call, please send those via email to: info@narhc.org. Please put RHC TA Question in the subject line.

There will also be time at the end of the presentation for participants to ask questions.

We look forward to your participation in this important event

ILHITREC's E-Mail System Running Again After Malfunction
Due to technical problems, ILHITREC's email info@ILHITREC.org malfunctioned last week, preventing us from receiving your e-mails. If you did not receive a response to your inquiry from an ILHITREC representative within 24 hours, please re-send it to info@ILHITREC.org. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Log-in to IMPACT now to avoid MU attestation problems
ILHITREC encourages Providers to log-in to the IMPACT system now to make sure you can access the Electronic Health Record Medicaid Incentive Payment Program (eMIPP) in advance of the April 30, 2017 deadline set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This will allow you time to resolve any possible problems.
Providers can review the eMIPP Attestation Guide for step-by-step screenshots to assist you in the process. It takes 5 minutes per provider. Doing so allows Providers to:
  • Confirm the person responsible for attestation can log-in to IMPACT (pg. 1-2)
  • Confirm in IMPACT that the person attesting has access to each provider's domain with administrator profile (pg. 3-4)
  • Have each provider's CMS ID ready
  • Confirm that information on the Federal Information section of eMIPP is up to date (pg. 5-10)
If you need assistance from ILHITREC, please contact us at  info@ILHITREC.org.

Illinois Medicaid Attestation Deadline is April 30, 2017

The deadline for Providers to attest in the Illinois Medicaid Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program for the 2016 program year has been extended to April 30, 2017.

The extension is for eligible providers who have recently registered or previously registered for the program at the CMS website by the March 13, 2017 registration deadline for the Medicare/Medicaid EHR Incentive programs. All providers who have registered but not yet attested in the program must attest by April 30, 2017 to remain in the program and earn incentives.
If you need assistance with attestations or deadlines, contact info@ILHITREC.org. For the full announcement: https://www.illinois.gov/hfs/MedicalProviders/notices/Pages/prn170302a.aspx
