Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program
Attestation Extension
Date: March 2, 2017
To: Physicians, Nurse Practitioners,
Dentists, and Optometrists
The April 30, 2017 extension applies only to eligible providers who have registered for the program at the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) website by the March 13, 2017 registration deadline for the Medicare/Medicaid EHR Incentive programs, but have not yet attested to the Illinois Medicaid EHR Incentive Program for the 2016 program year.
CMS
recently extended the Medicare attestation deadline two weeks, which could
potentially cut into the Medicaid attestation timeframe for practices attesting
to both programs. In addition, with the recent agency switch to IMPACT
security, some providers may need additional time to initiate their IMPACT User
ID. Therefore, the Department extended the attestation period for these
providers.
Providers who have not registered with CMS by March 13, 2017 cannot attest for the 2016 program year. The 2016 program year is the final year in which a provider may enter the program.
