Secure messaging service can help providers achieve meaningful use

The Illinois Office of Health Information Technology is offering the ILHIE Direct Secure Messaging Solution for free throughout 2012. This service will assist providers with achieving Stage 1 meaningful use through sharing clinical data using secure, encrypted email capability.

All licensed Illinois healthcare providers can take advantage of this free service.

Information such as notes, continuity of care documents, referrals and summary of care records can be sent in this HIPAA-compliant format. ILHIE Direct can transfer files as large as 125 megabytes compared to the 10-megabyte limit of standard email service.
