Central Illinois Health Information Exchange Awarded $1.7
Million to Support Service Expansions
Central Illinois Health Information Exchange (CIHIE) has
been awarded an additional $1.7 million in federal funds as the sole
sub-recipient participating with the Illinois Health Information
Exchange Authority in the "Advanced Interoperable Health
Information Technology Services to Support Health Information Exchange"
initiative.
The funding provides for: Connectivity of long-term care
facilities, home health agencies and physician practices to the health
information exchange; Connectivity of emergency medical services to the
health information exchange; Establishment of an alerts network that
can provide notifications to healthcare providers when significant care
events happen, such as hospital admissions and discharges; and Alerting
service expansion into the Chicago market and statewide. Read

Connect (IHC) webinar Dec. 1, during which ILHITREC's Clinical
Informatics Specialists presented "2016 is Final Year to Enroll in
eMIPP: Modified Stage 2 - 2015-2017; 2016 Reporting
Requirements for Eligible Providers." If you missed the Webinar,
a PDF of the PowerPoint slides is available on the ILHITREC
website. The recording will be available soon on the ILHITREC site, as
well as through IHC at www.illinoishealthconnect.com.

Join CMS Webinar Dec. 13 to Learn More about two of the
MIPS Performance Categories
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
invites you to join a webinar titled "MIPS Overview: Understanding
Advancing Care" on Tuesday, Dec 13 at 1:30 p.m.(ET). In the
Webinar, participants will learn more about the Advancing Care Information
and Improvement Activities performance categories included in the
Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Register
Now, space is limited!
During the webinar, CMS will provide the following: Advancing Care
Information category overview; Improvement Activities category
overview; Explanation of how the categories intersect (earning
Advancing Care Information bonus points with Improvement Activities);
Requirements for the 2017 transition year (Pick Your Pace).
Submit a Formal Comment
CMS also encourages the public to submit comments on the
MACRA final rule. Comments are due Dec. 19, 2016, and can be submitted
in several ways, including: Electronically via www.regulations.gov;
via regular mail; By Express or Overnight mail; By hand or courier.

Receive CMS Quality Payment Program Email Alerts
Subscribers of the EHR listserv are encouraged to sign up for the
new CMS Quality Payment Program listserv. The Quality Payment Program
is part of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015
(MACRA) and includes two tracks-Advanced Alternative Payment Models
(APMs) and the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).
The Quality Payment
Program's first performance period opens on Jan. 1, 2017 and closes
Dec. 31, 2017. Participation in MIPS can start as early as Jan. 1, 2017
or as late as Oct. 2, 2017. The first payment adjustments based on
performance go into effect on Jan. 1, 2019. Subscribe to the Quality
Payment Program listserv to receive reminders for all of these important
deadlines.
To subscribe, visit the Quality Payment Program portal and select "Subscribe
to Email Updates" in the footer. The Education & Tools page includes
program resources to help you learn more about eligibility and how to
participate.

Website for Updated Information on CY 2017 and Stage 3 Program
Requirements
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is
committed to assisting eligible professionals (EPs), eligible
hospitals, and critical access hospitals (CAHs) to participate
successfully in the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record
(EHR) Incentive Programs.
The recently released Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of
2015 (MACRA) and Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS)
and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) Payment System for calendar year
(CY) 2017 final rules include provisions that will affect the EHR
Incentive Programs in 2017 and beyond. CMS has updated the CMS
EHR Incentive Programs website and resources based on changes
to the programs.
CMS encourages EPs, eligible hospitals, and CAHs to visit the updated
website to find official CMS resources and program information.
