Register Now: Assessment and Treatment of Eating disorders: Empowering Physicians to be part of the Treatment Team


 

 

ICAAP
This training will address the role of the pediatrician in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric eating disorders, with a focus on the Family-Based Treatment (FBT) approach (Maudsley Method). This evidence-based treatment is recommended as a first-line approach for adolescents with anorexia nervosa. The training is being conducted by Dr. Karen Bernstein, MD, MPH, FAAP, Kristen Anderson, LCSW, Sara Desai, LCSW, and Dr. Cathy Joyce, MD, PhD. The trainers have extensive clinical experience treating adolescents with eating disorders utilizing the FBT method. Registration fee is $20. ICAAP is holding this training on Friday, August 5, from 8-10am at Glenbrook Hospital, 2100 Pfingsten Rd, Glenview in conference rooms A1/A2. ICAAP
In addition to ICAAP's recently launched obesity and nutrition-related continuing medical education (CME) series, several more modules have been published online free of charge for providers. The additional courses include: Physical Activity Guidelines and Counseling for Children and Adolescents, Evaluation and Management of Hypertension in Children, Evaluation and Management of Hyperlipidemia in Children, Understanding and Assessing Psychosocial Factors Associated with Childhood Obesity, and Connecting Patients to Community Resources. These courses have been developed by a multidisciplinary subgroup of the ICAAP Committee on Obesity's Education Advisory Group with expertise in nutrition and counseling. The CME is funded through a grant from the Otho S. A. Sprague Memorial Institute and the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services. View ICAAP's online courses here.
